Yet, American icon Thomas Jefferson, so admired for his intellectual brilliance and his wisdom in politics and economics, defended the Illuminati’s founder. Weishaupt, Jefferson insisted, is merely a “philanthropist,” a leader who cares for the common welfare of the people.
